How much could a house extension cost in 2021?

A quick guide to help you get your finances in order before you start planning your project

According to a 2020 Real Estate AU report, the demand for house extensions and additions soared amidst the pandemic. Many Aussie families jumped at the chance to renovate their homes not only because of the generous HomeBuilder grant, but also because they have so much time in their hands after cancelling travel plans. For many, it was the most convenient time to improve the look and feel of their home.

If you feel like 2021 is the year for you to renovate, then you should do as much research as you can now and act fast as  half of the year has almost gone by!

Your first focus should be your budget. Find out how much your dream home renovation is going to cost you. Here, we’re going to show you the average cost of a home renovation per state or territory. This way, you can prepare a budget and get your finances in order before commencing with the work.

  • Garage conversion and extensionsConverting a double garage into a livable space would cost around $32,450. For more information, check out our previous blog about converting your garage into a livable space or into a garage bedroom.
